FAQ- temporary residence permit procedure
I am a holder of a temporary residence card for full time students. Can I work while studying?
Yes, a status of a full- time student gives you a right to work in Poland.
What should I do if I want to change the purpose of my stay if I already submitted the application?
You need to submit a written statement on changing the purpose of stay. Remember that it needs to be written in Polish.
I have obtained a positive decision. When will I receive a card?
Congratulations! You will now have to wait for a text message sent to your number informing you about the date of picking up your card.
What if I complete my studies and obtain my degree but the procedure of temporary stay permit is still ongoing and I want to stay in Poland?
If you already graduated and are looking for a job in Poland, you can file application for the purpose of searching for a job. Remember that a graduate of full -time studies of a Polish university does not need a work permit and has free access to the job market in Poland.
I applied for a residence permit in another province in Poland but have since moved to Warsaw to pursue my studies. What should I do?
If the procedure is still ongoing, you should request the Province office to transfer your case to the Masovian Voivodeship Office. Your application will then be transferred accordingly
What can I do if I applied for a residence permit on the basis of work but have since started studies as a full time student at the university?
You will have to submit a written statement on the change of the purpose of your stay in Poland.
Registration of address
According to Polish law, both a Polish citizen and a foreigner living in Poland are obliged to register their address, if their stay exceeds 30 days (for non EU citizens) or 3 months (for EU citizens).
The procedure is called „ZAMELDOWANIE” and is free of charge but if you wish to receive a written confirmation you will need to pay PLN 17.
In order to comply this obligation to have to visit Municipal Office corresponding to your place of residence, no later than on the 30th day after your arrival (if you are EU citizen) or no later than 4th day after arrival (if you are non-EU citizen).
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:
Rental agreement (if you rent a flat/room)
ID (for EU citizen) or passport (for non-EU citizen)
Visa or residence card (for non-EU citizen)
Upon registration, the foreigner can obtain a PESEL number.
Please keep in mind that you must inform the Municipal Office of any changes to your address.
